Samsung Ambushes Nokia in Smartphone War

Samsung Mobiles has brought its own Omnia cab and put it outside the Lumia showroom for few days.Nokia rolled out Lumia cabs in Bangolore as part of biggest marketing drive in the country to promote its first Windows smart phone.In ambush marketing, Samsung has cut throat competition between the country top two mobile handset players that looks like old Cola War between Coca Cola and PepsiCo that refreshes memories of Pepsi’s “nothing official about it” campaign during the 1996 cricket world cup and has introduced the concept of ambush marketing in India.

Samsung denies ambushing Nokia and were part of independent marketing initiatives. Samsung rolled out a convoy of Omnia W cabs for three days.Ambush marketing rules apply that there are territorial rules and are applicable.Samsung has emerged the most aggressive mobile handset maker over the past couple of years.Samsung have taken Nokia as the largest smartphone vendor in value terms.

Nokia says ambush marketing is about deriding the other brand and if Ambush marketing done in a creative manner appeals to the consumers and some marketing experts believe that Samsung is playing smart and competition is being opportunistic by scoring a goal that is least prepared.
